Varenna, Como Lake
Varenna on Como Lake it’s one of those places that I love to visit when I’m back in my country.
In these travels, mostly made for work covering weddings next to my home town, Milan, I love to see villas and well-kept gardens where is a pleasure to walk through; in places like those, with that panorama, time flow slowly, without frenzy almost at the beat of the lake. The lake keeps its movement and nature itself is doing the same with a lovely calm and a sort of timeless elegance.
Villa Monastero’s garden
There is one Villa that I really love in Varenna and its called “Villa Monastero” because it was, originally, a monastery. Villa Monastero’s garden is a real breathtaking masterpiece, a place to feel the sound of the water against the coast, a garden full of old plants with irregular and singular shapes. These almost seems in contrast with the regular geometry in which the garden has beed developed. There are hidden corners where the intimacy reigns.
The view from those benches is amazing and just let the lake speak by itself and you can find yourself surrounded by moving beauty.
After the wedding
Sometimes after a wedding day when I don’t have a flight the day after I like to take a chance to have half a day free next to the place where the Wedding was done. I’ve already been here in Varenna some years ago at the wedding of M+N but I didn’t had the chance to take pictures at these places like today(obviously I was focused on the event).
In rare spare hours like these I like to focus on the places, enjoy the geometries and let the spaces speak by themselves. It doesn’t happens all the time, only after days in which my attention was totally dedicated to the characters of an event; in some ways I like to find again my energy in moments like these. Everything is so functional to my work.
Places like this, an inspiration
While I was walking in those places the sound of the water of the fountain and the lake were the soundtrack while I was letting my thought flow and while I was taking pictures at Villa Monastero’s garden.
Places like these are such an inspiration for me; by looking at a garden like this I’m still surprising myself on how the love and the attention could be the base to make masterpieces.
A well kept garden, a project that knows how to shape the nature in order to let this speak with the surrounding environment.
Wedding at Villa Monastero, Varenna, Como Lake
I can understand why Como Lake is such an amazing destination for a lot of people: these places are unique. It wasn’t difficult for me to see ecstatic tourists in front of the lake, without the phone, lost in their thought with so much beauty in the eyes.
I didn’t know that Villa Monastero’s garden is open to Wedding ceremonies.
I publish the site just because I’m always so attracted by places like this and the idea of have a Wedding at Villa Monastero in Varenna is a sort of dream. Maybe someone will find useful this link to have an intimate place for its event.
By the way if you are passing or traveling on Como Lake don’t miss the chance to visit this place, it’s worth a visit.
