One Day in siena

On my short travel in Tuscany I tried so badly to spend one day in Siena, aiming to discover the city after my recently reads about it made in the last few months.
My will to see again places that I only saw once, when I was a kid, was stronger then ever; like many years ago I’ve got to manage this visit in a few hours but I felt enthusiast in having this opportunity.
This time I just stroll through the streets of the city without following the map, free one day in Siena between places full of tourists and the city’s building and churches. Simply amazing.
I haven’t got a clue in how could be real “Senese”(citizen of Siena) but I know the pride and the sense of belonging that you can breathe in every little corner of this city.

On the blog I told you about this little trip starting from the end to arrive directly at the beginning.
Only two images accompanied my words since these were the necessary ones for an introduction.
Here is obviously slightly different even because in one day in Siena there’s a load of amazing things to be seen.
Here I showed you my goal at the end of this travel in Tuscany and in this second post I portrayed the street which has symbolized the beginning of my travel. Follow the link in order to retrace the stages of this little journey.

Contrada flags
The Contrada flags kept on waving while I was walking through the windy streets of the city. Sometimes I felt attracted by the details of the place, sometimes by the amazing light that that day. In the na

Lights lit up cleary the buildings  and sometimes I saw details who, nethertheless where hidden an poorly lit, knew how to catch my sight.

Siena Cathedral

While I was enjoying those places and geometries made by the buildings I found myself ,without really realize it, at Siena Cathedral.
The Cathedral of Santa maria Assunta, or Siena Cathedral, is one of the most outstanding examples of Romanesque-Gothic church in Italy.
The extensive use of the white marble is amazing and, by looking at it, I remembered the hours spent studying History of art, one of my greatest passion in high school years.
Inside Siena Cathedral is enriched with works made by Michelangello and Donatello; two amazing statues.
This time I didn’t have the chance to visit the interiors so I focused my attention to the exteriors by looking at the unfinished building of the new cathedral and the front called “Facciatone” by Siena’s citizen.
This building has created a unique architectural space of its kind that I loved a lot.

Tuscan hills

My journey continued through the Tuscan hills towards the Val d’Orcia and its landscapes. Unlike Siena I have never seen those places. I wanted to see those so those iconic landscapes able to mark the excellence of a region; tuscan hills and unique panoramas celebrated all over the world because of their uniqueness and beauty.

Telling this journey with my words is something new for me. Also I have to say that probably there’s still some grammatical error in my english( Sometimes I still find myself translating from my original language),  but I wanted to involve you in this.
My work is not only weddings related and this travel had been remarkable for me for two reasons.
First reason is that by living abroad I re-discovered a deep admiration to my country and its unique places that makes me proud to be Italian.
Second reason is more connected to how I live this profession, a total involvement that bring me always looking for Inspiration and consistency that let me free to imagine myself able to stop the time.
This is a constant idea that I see fulfilled in my photography and sometimes iin what I write, the idea behind what I do.
